What is Dardinelle? It started with two hippies in a VW Van traveling the Northwest in the 1970s. During their travels, they came upon a town in California named Dardanelle where they enjoyed lots of scenic camping. When their daughter arrived in 1978 (that's me), they decided it would be a great middle name for her-though they couldn't quite remember how to spell it correctly-thus Leslie Dardinelle came to be.
30 years later living in Portland, Oregon, I'm embarking on my own journey into motherhood with our first son born October 2008. While on the quest for natural, well designed clothing for my son, I kept coming up short of what I really wanted. I started coming up with my own designs that I painted onto blank organic cotton onesies. Thinking other parents might be in the same boat looking for natural, hip baby clothes I, along with my computer-savvy husband, have started our own business of designing onesies that we love and we hope you love too! We joked about calling it Dardinelle at first, but the more we said it, the better it seemed to fit!
Dardinelle is committed to being an environmentally-conscious brand providing high quality products while maintaining affordability. Our vision is to provide well made, thoughtfully designed clothing for children. We desire to leave as small a footprint on the earth as possible, that is why we do everything we can to conserve and protect the environment for our children and their children.
All our fabrics are pre-washed in perfume and dye-free detergent and organic materials are purchased whenever possible. The fabric paint used is color-fast and will not fade even after many washes. Shipping materials are recyclable.
All of our designs are made by hand, so no two onesies are exactly the same. You are getting a unique product every time!
We do custom orders! Do you like a design you see, but want different colors? We can do that. Do you want your baby's name somewhere with the design? We can do that! Do you have your own design idea you'd like to see come to life? We can do that too! Just let us know what you have in mind and we'll do our best to make your dream a reality.
